Terms of Service
Last Updated: July 4, 2026
Welcome to the BJK Family Portal ("the Service").
The BJK Family Portal is a private, self-hosted platform operated for the BJK family, invited family members, approved guests, and related private communities.
By accessing or using the Service, you agree to these Terms of Service.
If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.
1. Description of Service
The BJK Family Portal provides secure access to selected self-hosted services, account management tools, and family-oriented technology resources.
Available services may change over time. Some services may be limited to specific users, groups, or invited members.
The Service is private and invitation-based. Access is not available to the general public.
2. Service Availability
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.
Because it operates on privately managed infrastructure, services may occasionally be unavailable due to maintenance, upgrades, hardware issues, internet outages, backups, security incidents, or other technical problems.
While we run nightly backups, we do not guarantee uninterrupted service, permanent availability, or protection against all forms of data loss.
You should maintain your own copies of important files and information.
3. Accounts and Security
You are responsible for:
- Keeping your password and recovery information secure
- Using multi-factor authentication when available
- Protecting your devices from unauthorized access
- Promptly notifying an administrator if you believe your account has been compromised
- Using only your own account unless explicitly authorized otherwise
Do not share your account credentials with others.
We may suspend or reset accounts when necessary to protect the Service or respond to suspected compromise.
4. Encryption and Recovery
Some Portal services may use encryption, end-to-end encryption, or zero-knowledge encryption.
For those services, you may be solely responsible for protecting your password, recovery key, encryption key, or recovery codes.
If an encrypted service does not provide administrator recovery, we may be unable to restore access to your account or data if you lose your credentials or recovery information.
5. Acceptable Use
You may use the Service only for lawful, personal, and authorized purposes.
You may not use the Service to store, distribute, transmit, or facilitate content or activity that:
- Violates applicable law.
- Contains Child Sexual Abuse Material, exploitation of minors, or sexual content involving minors.
- Threatens, harasses, stalks, abuses, doxxes, or unlawfully invades another person's privacy.
- Contains malware, ransomware, viruses, credential theft tools, or other harmful code.
- Attempts to interfere with, disrupt, overload, scan, exploit, or gain unauthorized access to Portal systems.
- Infringes another person's intellectual property rights.
- Uses the Service for spam, mass unsolicited messaging, fraud, scams, or deceptive activity.
- Creates an unreasonable security, legal, financial, or operational risk for the Portal or its users.
Child sexual abuse material and exploitation of minors are strictly prohibited. Accounts associated with such content will be terminated immediately and may be reported to appropriate authorities.
6. Respectful Use
Some Portal services may include shared communication, collaboration, gaming, social, or community features.
Users must treat others with basic respect.
Harassment, hate speech, targeted abuse, doxxing, threats, discrimination, and deliberate disruption may result in suspension or removal from the Service.
7. Privacy and Administrative Access
You retain ownership of the content you upload or create within the Service, subject to the rights needed to host, back up, secure, and operate the Service.
Authorized administrators may access non-encrypted systems, logs, files, or service data when reasonably necessary to:
- Maintain or repair the Service
- Respond to technical support requests
- Perform backups or recovery
- Investigate security incidents
- Investigate suspected violations of these Terms
- Protect users or infrastructure from harm
For more information, see our Privacy Policy.
8. Suspension and Termination
We may suspend, restrict, or terminate access at any time when necessary to protect the Service, its users, or its infrastructure.
Reasons may include:
- Violation of these Terms
- Security concerns
- Suspected compromise or abuse
- Inactivity
- Loss of eligibility for access
- Operational or capacity constraints
We may remove data associated with terminated accounts, subject to backup retention and legal or security needs.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the BJK Family Administrators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from:
- Use of or inability to use the Service
- Data loss
- Service interruption
- Security incidents
- Unauthorized access
- Hardware failures
- Software defects
- Third-party service failures
- Loss of passwords, recovery codes, encryption keys, or access to encrypted content
You use the Service at your own risk.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Service changes.
The current version will be posted on the BJK Family Portal with its effective date.
